Wonder Woman #600 by Brad Cutrer on Jul 03, 2010 | Posted in: Books, Comic Books

I think it would be fair for me to say that women have it hard in comic books. For the most part, the audience has been predominately male. Most female characters are forced to deal with other females, and sometimes have to rely on their male counterparts to get the job done. Without a doubt Wonder Woman is one superhero who, for the most part,  has avoided this path. To say what she has gone through in her own stories would be equivalent to Superman or Batman.

This was a celebratory issue about her achievements. There are various stories by popular writers, all giving their take on the amazon princess. I think they all did a good job giving a spin on her by showing her personality and her heroism as the same thing.

It also gives the first part of a storyline written by J. Michael Straczynski. I recently read his take on Thor and enjoyed the hell out of it. Seriously, I can’t find a bad story from the guy. He’s recreated Wonder Woman by modifying her history and costume. I was originally against the change (for no real reason), but reading the footnotes I can understand what he wants to do with her character.

As someone who appreciates mythology and comics, this title seems like a good fit for me. Let me know what you think about the title.

I do look forward to this but it will have to wait until I get caught up on my Darkest Night and Brightest Day reading. With so many books, I got behind pretty easily.

I'm interested to know how this effects other currently going storylines. What about the Batman/Superman/Wonder Woman comic? Does that continue as it has or does this new 20-something Wonder Woman take over there? If it continues as it has, does this mean the new Wonder Woman story takes place in a different timeline/alternate reality?

WW #601 will be a good read.
