Game Night: Power Grid by Jeremy Kelso on Jan 28, 2011 | Posted in: Game Night, Games, Reviews

So what is Power Grid all about? In a nut shell, the object of Power Grid is to supply the most cities with power when someone’s network gains a predetermined size.  The end game network size (AKA number of cities you purchased) is predetermined by the number of players. I find the game to be [...]

Final Fantasy : The 4 Heroes of Light by Brad Cutrer on Oct 15, 2010 | Posted in: Games, Reviews

Even now as I’m writing my eyes are glancing towards my DS.  It’s heartbeat, the little blue glow on the top left, is letting me know that there’s something waiting for me.  It’s the next great game on my DS, Final Fantasy : The 4 Heroes of Light.  The English teacher in my head is [...]

Minecraft by Brad Cutrer on Oct 07, 2010 | Posted in: Games, Reviews

I guess I’m the victim of one of the new gaming addictions. It’s not Farmville, thank god, and it’s not Warcraft. It doesn’t have the best graphics, gripping storyline, or intriguing gameplay. It’s called Minecraft, and I’m a little late to the party. It was released earlier in 2009 by Markus Persson. His one man [...]

Halo: Reach by Mark Whitney on Sep 30, 2010 | Posted in: Games, Reviews

The most anticipated game of 2010 has arrived — and it’s exactly what you expect. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing; Halo has been, since it’s arrival in 2001, one of those franchises that you expect amazing things out of. They follow a very specific formula that few people lose interest in and most worship [...]

Three Under 300: Recettear, VVVVVV, and Scott Pilgrim by Mark Whitney on Sep 16, 2010 | Posted in: Games, Reviews

Recettear: An Item Shop’s Tale (Easy Game Station – Steam $19.99) Recettear is an interesting twist on a traditional Japanese RPG. Instead of playing the hero and experiencing the epic storyline that comes standard with that role you’ll play Recette — a lowly shop keeper who is left with the debt her father abandoned in [...]

Metroid: Other M by Mark Whitney on Sep 09, 2010 | Posted in: Games, Reviews

Metroid: Other M is a strange beast; I’ve never seen a franchise so beloved by so many people have this big of a sloping curve when it comes to review scores. It really will be the game that turns veterans off, introduces newborn gaming babes, and leaves many sophomore initiates scratching their heads. But one thing is for sure (at least from this reviewer’s perspective): the game certainly has its flaws, but it’s a noble try and a welcome addition to the franchise.
